About Us

About Us...

Welcome to the Southwest 900 Network, (formally known as the AZ 900 Network). We are a

group of Amateur Radio enthusiasts that are solely interested in operating and maintaining the

Amateur 900 MHz/33cm band. We are secondary users on the band and therefore it is a “use it,

or lose it” status. Our 900 MHz network is comprised of over 30 full-time linked repeaters throughout

the southwest. All linking is done with Allstar Linking VOIP. Our links are connected 24/7 with auto

connect and reconnect. We use Allstar strictly for our links to each repeater. We do not

encourage linking from outside sources to maintain strict 900 MHz interest.

We are not a Club and do not require dues to use the system. All operating and maintenance

expenses are covered by the individual repeater owners. On the 900 MHz/33cm band it is Narrow Band.

Unlike VHF/UHF, deviation is 2.5 KHz and channel spacing is 12.5 KHz. Repeater offsets are 25 MHz.

We use Motorola Quantar repeaters, some set with Mix Mode for both FM and P25 capabilities.

The P25 mode on most of the repeaters, right now are Stand-Alone. This means they are not on a P25 Network.

The repeaters are not linked together on P25. Plans are to eventually have them on a Network. It’s a work in

progress. As mentioned earlier, when we started the 900 Network in 2000, we started calling ourselves the

Arizona 900 Network. Covering just AZ from the Grand Canyon to the Mexican Border. We

began to get requests to expand beyond our borders and now cover Southern California, Southern

Nevada and one in Alaska. So we are now referred to has the Southwest 900 Network. WB7BYV
